7.15 Ignition and growth equation of state

Products: Abaqus/Explicit  Abaqus/CAE

Benefits: The ignition-and-growth equation of state is now available in Abaqus/Explicit. It can be used to model the shock initiation and the detonation wave propagation of high-energy solid explosives.

Description: The ignition-and-growth model is a phenomenological model, in which the heterogeneous explosive is modeled as a homogeneous mixture of two phases: the unreacted solid explosive and the reacted gas products. Separate JWL equations of state are prescribed for each phase, and a single reaction-rate law is prescribed for the conversion of the explosive to products.
