You can create a retained nodal degrees of freedom (DOFs) boundary condition to specify the degrees of freedom that are to be retained as external to a substructure. This boundary condition can be created only in a Substructure generation step.
To create or edit a retained nodal DOFs boundary condition:
Display the retained nodal DOFs boundary condition editor using one of the following methods:
To create a new retained nodal DOFs boundary condition, follow the procedure outlined in “Creating boundary conditions,” Section 16.8.2 (Category: Mechanical; Types for Selected Step: Retained nodal dofs).
To edit an existing retained nodal DOFs boundary condition using menus or managers, see “Editing step-dependent objects,” Section 3.4.13. To edit the region to which the boundary condition is applied, see “Editing the region to which a prescribed condition is applied,” Section 16.8.4.
Toggle on any of the following options:
U1 Nodal freedom in the 1-direction.
U2 Nodal freedom in the 2-direction.
U3 Nodal freedom in the 3-direction.
UR1 Rotation about the 1-axis.
UR2 Rotation about the 2-axis.
UR3 Rotation about the 3-axis.
