3.4 New double precision option for Abaqus/Explicit

Product: Abaqus/Explicit

Benefits: The Abaqus/Explicit packager can now be run in double precision, allowing smoother responses in execution after import, restart, and step boundaries—including the first step in an analysis.

Description: You now have the option to run both the Abaqus/Explicit packager and analysis in double precision. Moreover, by default, real state data saved into an Abaqus/Explicit restart (.abq) file is written in double precision. These options should lead to smoother transition between steps and upon import or restart of an analysis. Note that the memory requirements for the packager and the restart file size will increase when using double precision. You can optionally specify that real state data be saved to the restart file in single precision.
