4.6 Enhancements to defining shell thickness

Product: Abaqus/CAE

Benefits: The shell thickness options are now grouped together in the shell section and composite layup editors to simplify the shell thickness definition process. Node-based shell thickness definitions were previously limited to discrete fields. You can now use analytical fields for this type of thickness definition.

Description: Shell thickness options for homogeneous shell sections, composite shell sections, and conventional shell layups are now grouped together on a single tabbed page in their respective editors. The shell thickness definition can be based on the section thickness, on an element-based distribution (defined by an analytical field or an element-based discrete field), or on a node-based distribution (defined by an analytical field or a node-based discrete field).
