5.2 Improved import of parts

Product: Abaqus/CAE

Benefits: When you import parts from a file generated by a third-party CAD system, you can now combine the imported parts or bodies within a part into a single Abaqus part. In addition, you can stitch the edges of imported parts together using a user-specified stitch tolerance value.

Description: The CAD file formats for ACIS, CATIA V4, Elysium Neutral file, Parasolid, and STEP support multiple parts in a single file; and when you import parts from files in any of these formats, Abaqus/CAE imports all of the parts in the file by default. You can now combine all of the parts that you import from a third-party CAD file into a single Abaqus part when you perform your import. If desired, you can also stitch the edges of the imported parts together upon import according to a user-specified stitching tolerance value.
