6.5 Improvements to the AMS eigensolver

Benefits: Enhancements to the AMS eigensolver improve performance for frequency extraction analyses.

Description: Enhancements in the reduced eigensolution phase of the AMS eigensolver deliver significantly improved performance for large-scale models requiring more than 3000 eigenmodes. Table 6–2 illustrates the performance improvements in the AMS eigensolver for two industrial models: Model 1 is a 2.8 million degree-of-freedom vehicle model, and Model 2 is a 9.2 million degree-of-freedom vehicle model. Both analyses were run on an HP Linux machine with dual 3.0 GHz Core 2 Duo processors and 16 GB of shared memory.

The performance gains are minor for small models with less than 500,000 degrees of freedom or for large models with less than 2000 eigenmodes extracted.
