7.3 Arrhenius shift function for thermo-rheologically simple (TRS) materials

Products: Abaqus/Standard  Abaqus/Explicit

Benefits: You can model the temperature dependence of the viscosity of semi-crystalline polymers.

Description: Abaqus now supports the Arrhenius form of the temperature-time shift function for thermo-rheologically simple (TRS) viscous materials. It takes the form

where is the activation energy, is the universal gas constant, is the absolute zero in the temperature scale being used, and is the reference temperature at which the relaxation data are given.

The Arrhenius shift function is commonly used for semi-crystalline polymers. This capability can be used in combination with viscoelastic materials as well as equation of state materials with viscous shear behavior (see Non-Newtonian viscous shear behavior for equation of state models, Section 7.2).
