7.6 Usability improvements for the ideal gas equation of state

Product: Abaqus/Explicit

Benefits: The definitions of initial conditions for an ideal gas equation of state have been simplified.

Description: In previous releases, when using an ideal gas equation of state in Abaqus/Explicit, it was the responsibility of the user to define the initial value of the specific energy, , with a value consistent with the initial temperature. Abaqus/Explicit now automatically computes the initial specific energy from the initial temperature by numerically integrating the equation

Optionally, you can override this default behavior by defining the initial specific energy for the ideal gas directly.

Abaqus/Explicit now allows the definition of the initial state of the gas based on the initial pressure stress and the initial temperature. In this case the user-specified initial density is replaced by that derived from the equation of state in terms of initial pressure and temperature.
