Products: Abaqus/Explicit Abaqus/CAE
Benefits: You can now perform data filtering on element and nodal field output. In addition, you can now use filters to find the maximum, minimum, and absolute maximum over time for both field output and history output and for both filtered and unfiltered data.
Description: You can now pre-filter element field output or nodal field output in your analysis using a low-pass Infinite Impulse Response data filter. Filtering was previously available only for history output. This enhancement enables you to apply filtering to relevant element field output quantities, such as stress and strain, and to relevant nodal field output quantities, such as accelerations and reaction forces.
Data filtering has also been extended to enable you to obtain the maximum, minimum, or absolute maximum values for most output variables (filtered or unfiltered). Abaqus evaluates maximum, minimum, or absolute maximum values at every increment during the analysis and writes these values to the output database at the time given by the output interval (or output frequency). For field output requests the last output frame shows the maximum, minimum, or absolute maximum value over the entire step; the intermediate frames show the maximum, minimum, or absolute maximum value up to the frame time.
You can also define bounding values for the variables in an output request, which enables you to set a lower limit to the minimum and an upper limit to the maximum. In addition, you can stop the analysis when any variable in the output request reaches this limiting value.
These new options can be applied to both filtered and unfiltered data. For unfiltered data the new Operator filter type in Abaqus/CAE enables you to create a filter that returns maximum, minimum, or the maximum absolute values in an output request to which it is applied without performing Butterworth filtering or either type of Chebyshev filtering on the data.
