The following identifiers are used:

| mod | The item existed in Abaqus 6.8 but has been modified or enhanced in Abaqus 6.9. |
| rem | The item existed in Abaqus 6.8 but has been removed in Abaqus 6.9. |
| (S) | The item is new, modified, or removed in Abaqus/Standard. |
| (E) | The item is new, modified, or removed in Abaqus/Explicit. |
| (S)(E) | The item is new, modified, or removed in both Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit. |
