D.1 Viewing the Abaqus PDF documentation

A PDF viewer, such as Adobe Reader, is required for viewing the PDF documentation files. The search functionality available for the PDF documentation is dependent on the PDF viewer that you select. The following PDF viewers are recommended for the Abaqus PDF documentation:

Adobe Reader 8.1.3 on Linux platforms
Adobe Reader 8.0 on Windows platforms (supports collection-level searching)

Note: Adobe Reader is available through third-party software vendors.

Later versions of Adobe Reader are expected to offer acceptable performance. Updated information on platform support for PDF viewers can be found under the System Information section of the Support page at www.simulia.com. You may be able to view the PDF documentation on platforms that are not supported by Abaqus; consult the Answers in the SIMULIA Online Support System for more information. The SIMULIA Online Support System is accessible from the My Support page at www.simulia.com.

To view the Abaqus PDF documentation:

Insert the Abaqus documentation DVD into the drive.
Manually open the file pdf_docs/index.pdf in your PDF viewer.
The list of books in the Abaqus PDF collection is displayed.
From the list of books, you can click a title to open an individual book or you can access the search functionality to search the PDF documentation.
